with the quick arrival of Halloween, i figured a good thread was in tune

so what games made you shit bricks?

me personally, The Thing made me shit bricks, some people think it wasnt scary at all

but horror with a mix of survivor elements, the game really gave me the jeepers

edit: this extends to any platform, not just pc games because its in the pc section

Doom 3. First horror game I ever played, and I played it in the middle of the night hyped up on energy drinks...

the first time i played doom 3 it was pretty intense, but you get used to it, except for the chainsaw level on the xbox

I never got past the first level I was so shit-scared. I'm afraid to touch that game now.

Dead Space is definitely a good game to check out. It's got a terrific score that keeps you on the edge of your seat.

Resident Evil 3 for the pc. All the lights were turned off.. it was around midnight and nemesis decides he wants to pop out of a fucking window and scare me. :(

Doom 3 was not fucking scary. Hell, the scary games are those that aren't meant to be scary. Just like the scary movies always suck and are not scary.

I'm sorry you couldn't stay past 8pm and play Doom 3.

lol. When it got done downloading it was like noon. I fucking waited until it was dark, thinking it would be scary. I mean it got me a couple times, but in all it was disappointing. I got the Soul Cube and was like.... fuck it I'm playing somethign else.

First time through RE:4 was pretty intense. It's the good kind of horror though. Especially when you see a woman nailed on the wall with a pitchfork. Then the fucking flour bag chainsaw mothafuka runs at you at of nowhere.

But I'd have to say, in the entire game, the Regenerators take the #1 spot. I don't jump from games...well didn't, until you hear them breathe, then they fucking come at you like there is no tomorrow.

Doom 3 wasn't all that scary. I always had enough ammo to save my ass. IN RE:4, certain times when you'd need a certain caliber of ammunition or a grenade...it's a bitch when you're like "Oh fuck...this is homo..." and have to think of a new way to not get fuckin' owned.

Which is one of the main reasons I didn't care for Doom 3. Always had ammo, and even if I didn't I could just fucking whip out the chain saw and give a big fuck you to anything coming my way.

Maybe not scary as such but Killer 7 was quite a head fuck. Great game and well designed and all but yeah head fuck.

quake was scary. i played it in the dark, everything was quiet and all of a sudden this half human/half worm thing started flying all around the screen making strange sucking noises omgwtf gross.

2 other creepy games were the 7th guest and the 11th hour. probably too old for anyone to rememer, but on one of them a clown came running down the hallway towards u. not too scary i guess, but if you're afraid of clowns then u may have wet your pants a lil' bit

I think it was 6th or 7th grade when RE2 came out- borrowed it from a friend, started playing when I got out of school. Finished Leon's disc a little after midnight, and tried to go to sleep. I was totally freaked out, couldn't sleep, so I was like 'well, fuck that idea- might as well do Claire's disc' :P

I have to say F.E.A.R. kind of made me jump at times. Alma was a scary whore.

I can't think of too many games that scared me. Resident Evil was creepy when it first came out but never outright scared me.

Remember this Emsy from the 7th Guest?

But you wont win,
You're bound...

Lol :) I remember those games, too, just like skumbag does! Though, I only played 11th hour, I didn't own it, so I don't remember it as much.

"Old Man Stauf built a house, and filled it with his toys
Six guests were invited one night, their screams the only noise
Blood inside the library, blood right up the hall
Dripping down the attic stairs, hey guests, try not to fall
Nobody came out that night, not one was ever seen
But Old Man Stauf is waiting there, crazy, sick, AND MEAN!"

(yes, I had to find it on wikipedia to get the exact wording, but I remember the game)

I don't think I've ever been scared of anything found in a video game, but there have been lots of stuff that have been creepy, like Ravenholm from Half-Life 2, most of anything from Doom 3, parts of F.E.A.R., etc.

Gonna have to go with Doom 3 on this one, probably the first game to scare the shit outta me. It really is dependent on when and how you play it. I never had enough ammo to be honest. I usually stuck with my shotgun. I always loved playing co-op and getting the shit scared out of me.

Condemned 2: Blood Shot. Not scary when you're playing before 11. But before you realize it, everyone elses is asleep, the house is pitch dark, and you feel a sense of alone. Just then someone fucking jumps out at you from nowhere, some weird ghost shit starts to happen, or you hear music that sends a chill up your spine.

Either that or Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly... 'nuff said.

btw, nice thread Gamble.

Alien versus Predator marine part. Its scary shit to wander around in darkness where aliens lurk, and that motion tracker peeps all the time, then dots start closing from every direction, aaargh panic. :/

I'd have to say Some parts of Silent Hill 3, 4, 5 and 6 were scary especially when you can't see the monsters and you can only hear em and then they jump out and try to get you. Also another one is Siren and Forbidden Siren 2 (was never released in North America) when ever that comes out for ps2 here, that game is scary as shit, why well because you can actually look through the monsters perspective and see what the hell they're doing which at times is fucked up shit and it's based on stealth play otherwise you're dead. And last one is Dead Space played it a bit for now since I got into Fallout 3, but Dead Space has it's moments keeping you on the edge of your sit just like Owen said. Resident Evil, Doom 3, and Manhunt 2 games aren't scary at all, could play em at anytime of the day don't care even if it's after midnight cause that's how you play horror games anyway.

For Farcry 2 and Fallout 3 you need a really good pc with atleast 4-8gb memory and a video card of atleast 1gb and HDR support to be able to play them with the best effects and visual graphics.

Bullshit. I have my resolution at 1280-1024 and everything on like high. I have an 8800 (old technology now...) and 1 gig of ram. I run it fine. Only problems I ever have is when the game crashes, which is probably due to either the crack or just game bugs that haven't been ironed out yet.

I dont remeber the name of the game but its where your like an indian and you have to fight aliens or mutants or whatever the fuck they were. They would come up to you and like chop you in half or bite your head off. Old ass game though was on the nintendo 64. But then again I was like six at the time sooooo yeah.

The only other game that has done that to me was Doom 3. I cleared out a whole room I hear something behind me and then Im dead I was like WTF!?!?! Then I realized the bastards come out the ground. :dodgy:

No game bugs there, I'm having same problem with Fallout 3 it's the video card overheating which causes the game to crash as it reaches certain temp. And also try putting everything on ultra high or highest with anisotropic filtering to 8 or 15 and Antialiasing to 6 then we'll see if it still runs smoothly. You TWO... :P

Lol blue screen is a virtual memory crash, error or leak, and sometimes windows operating system error. When you have your video card overheating it's either game crash or messed up graphics on your screen in game or after the game crashes, also could freez your pc or cause a restart just like a memory error with blue screen sometimes does, but without a blue screen.

Jeggo
11-01-2008, 05:24 AM
I'm not talking about a fucking blue screen of death. If I was I would have named it as such. The graphics fuck up and take a light blue hue, and I have to reset.

LoL Gamble. Don't you fucking hate that? One time I had like 2 Assault trucks and a car behind me and I looked back, and off the bridge I went :D
