Resident Evil.

I forgot which edition but there's one part wherby a damn dog jumped thru the window into the room,
smashing the window glass panels into pieces.

And the character was just right there, which is me.

I got a 3 second heart attack, lol.

Same. None of the scary games work on my com. If they do, it couldn't scare because the graphics will be as shitty as hell. The scariest I've played is DE. Oooh vampires are sooo scary.

I played a game called Hellnight, a long time ago, on PS1.

It was unsettling because the monster chasing you around the subway/underground city couldn't be killed, can kill you in one hit(!), was faster than you and there was no way of locating him except by the sound of his breath (Unless you had a certain partner with you and even then he could only be detected if he was close).

Managed to find a review and a picture. Figured i'd put them here too since the game is apparently pretty rare.

"Hellnight may be the best reason to learn how to import PAL PS One games, as there is nothing quite like it in the world. Hellnight is the European name for Atlus' Dark Messiah, which unfortunately never saw a North American release. The game is a first person adventure that begins as you, a nameless everyman, are chased onto a subway train by bizarre cult members. From there you run for your life, relentlessly pursued by an unkillable beast. You will make allies, solve problems and find keys, but the over-riding goal in Hellnight is to escape from the strange underground world you are trapped in before you are destroyed by the beast.

Though you can complete the game without any allies, many of the paths in the game will are determined by who you choose for your partners and how long they survive. Will you keep Naomi, a schoolgirl with the uncanny ability to sense of the monster's location? How about the crazed serial killer Kamiya, the stoic soldier Ivanoff, or the machine gun toting reporter Renee? It is unlikely any two sessions of Hellnight will turn out the same.

Hellnight is challenging but fair. The developers are good at throwing you a bone just when you feel the most alone and doomed. Though Hellnight will not please fans of graphics and glitz, those who favor a good story and great game design will really enjoy it. Hellnight is uncommon to rare. It shouldn't cost you more than $20. Look for it in the British and Australian Ebay sites.

the scartiest part in FEAR made me skip a few heart beats. When youre in a dark hallway your HUD goes all staticy and it gets real quiet. then the door slams behind you and of course you go to turn around and see whats there...nothing. so you turn around and a weird ass mutilated person is just standing there, 3 inches from your face. i immediately turned off the 360 and started sucking my thumb :(

wow. Sounds freaky.....
Well, I think the scariest game was Resident Evil 4..... The beginning is freaky because it's set in a gloomy village...And the little zombie dogs that you first see near the church.... And the Chainsaw Ppl!! God, they could kill you with one hit.. Right across the head.

Resident Evil 4 wasn't scary at least not to me. Chainsaw people's, oh noes! Shotgun to the face.

F.E.A.R. had its creepy moments but never downright scary. Again, my opinion.

Anyway, scariest game to me...hm...either the original Resident Evil or Silent Hill.

Games don't scare me because I'm a man.

The closest thing to a scary game I have ever played is Resident Evil 4.

Once our Primary School teacher made us play a game called "Duck, Duck, Goose", where everybody sat in a circle except for one person who was "it", who had to walk around patting everybody's head saying "duck". When they said "goose", the person who's head they patted had to get up and chase the first person. If they caught them before one rotation of the circle, the first person had to go "it" again. If not, the second person did.

I know this thread's in PC Gaming, but I just couldn't resist :p.

The NES version of Castlevania used to scare me shitless. I mean, jeez, I was 5. The music at night time in-game chilled me to the bone for some reason, although I laugh about it now.

Doom 3 was moderately scary for a few minutes, but after the millionth time of having some predictable zombified dude crawl out from the darkest corner of the room, it got very old.

I'd have to say Resident Evil 4. At 1 or two in the morning especially at the begining of the Regenerators when you see it lying down, lol...

It's pretty much as scary as a game can get. But that invloves you going along with the storyline, seeing all the things that happened and you've been through and the music as well isn't so friendly either... lol

But yeah. Made me "Oh, shit" a few times...

Also when the Iron Madiens or the other ones (the ones with no armor, just the sewed in eyes) rage out of nowhere and start charging...raises your heartbeat a bit.

The dogs are fuking annoying. They are the only thing that made me sit up quickly when they fuking jumped out of the bushes randomly...

I guess I was 12 or 13, I found Resident Evil 2 the Jill disc in the snow and got super excited. After playing outside in the happy snow during the day, I came back in and it by the time I sat down to play it, it was already dark, and being a true gamer, I turned out all the lights. I've never hated walking down a hallway only to hear the drip drip of blood more. Damn those lickers.

F.E.A.R got me pretty good, I got that when it first came out for the PC and I was away at school. I was playing in my dorm room, door closed, lights off, then I saw something move slightly...like it was cloaked. The encounter with the invisible ninjas was ridiculous only seeing shadows fly by you ever so often, then you get attacked. Well I had just fended them off and my heart rate was already flying when one of my friends ran as hard as he could into my door, throwing it open. That was fucked up. Thinking there are god damn invisible ninjas coming for me, I was half expecting the little girl to be there ready to stab me as well.
