get a gethering profession and mine/herb/skin everything you see. or farm elementals for their elemental earth/fire/water/air.

Get the auctioneer add-on. It owns! :)
Example: Buy all lvl 5-19 daggers with good options like agility, stamina and attack power since they are all in demand because noobs always buy them from AH and dont bother to go for an instance to get a decent good weapon. They are always cheap like 20-50 silver.
Buy-out all the decent ones, and sell them for buy-out at 1g99s. Good profit, rinse repeat. Do the same for other items too but make sure you know the market price.
