hi all.
first off id like to say my laptop already has built in wifi - acer signal up

but recently my net has slowed down quite abit. surfing aswell as online gaming.
i play darkeden fs - which is said to lag. but i had 0 lag last week and now it lags aswell as internet being slow.

will a pci wifi card help and give me a boosted signal compared to the built in?
would a usb connected wifi box be better then that? lol not worried about its appearance.

also if you know of any decent ones that would help :)

thanks

Well pcmcia might give you a better signal, but if you weren't lagging and now you are its possible that you have viruses/spyware. I would take a look at that first.

Yes, I agree. If your internet connection was fast before with no lag, and you're lagging now, you should scan your computer for either a virus or spyware.

http://housecall.antivirus.com for a free virus scan

http://www.download.com and download the latest free version of Ad-Aware to scan for spyware.

That should fix it. Otherwise I'd look into your wireless network and make sure it's secure with no one else using it without your knowledge. Perhaps a close by neighbor getting free Internet access off you.
